STRETCHING OUT: Alo Yoga — whose leggings have been seen on the likes of Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid — is making good on its word of aggressive store expansion.

The company, which ventured into physical retail in spring 2016 with a 7,000-square-foot Beverly Hills flagship, opened a store in Santa Monica earlier this year and will now try its hand at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles.

“The Grove is an amazing spot for our third L.A. Alo store,” said Danny Harris, cofounder and chief executive of Alo Yoga, noting the two-level unit would have a yoga studio upstairs and an organic café. The brand also plans some Grove street takeovers, which would allow it to host thousand-person outdoor yoga classes.

Harris started the company with Marco DeGeorge. The two operate Alo’s parent Color Image Inc. and sister brands Bella + Canvas and Bella Luxx.

The Grove store will total roughly 5,000 square feet and will be neighbors with Shinola. It’s currently slated for a fall opening.
The sprawling space follows in the vein of the store model set out by the Beverly Hills location, which is also two levels with space on the second floor for classes and organic coffee and juice served on the first level. The Santa Monica store, at the Third Street Promenade, was also in keeping with a multiuse door that was focused on creating a hub for community rather than being solely transactional.
Santa Monica is going “excellently” Harris said.

“We’re super happy with it,” he added. “Its location, like The Grove, is visited by locals and tourists alike.”
