Where to eat right now in the City of Angels

More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends, and family of Eater have one question: Where should I eat right now? Restaurant obsessives want to know what’s new, what’s hot, which favorite chef just launched a sophomore effort. And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood restaurants across the city, it is not a chronicle of the ‘it’ places of the moment. If there are any spots we missed, hit the tipline or comments with a suggestion, and remember that it’s not ranked in any particular order.

Star pastry chef Dominique Ansel has opened his highly anticipated bakery and full service dining room at The Grove. While the downstairs bakery draws Cronut-loving fans every morning, the upstairs room is the place for a creative, but expansive dinner fare that should please a crowd. There’s the same sense of whimsy that Ansel puts into his pastries and desserts, which means “clam chowder” with little neck tortellini or a gorgeous grilled ribeye with a housemade plum sauce.
