Public School 805, a new full-service restaurant and bar, will open Mon., June 17 at The Promenade at Westlake, 120 E. Promenade Way, Thousand Oaks.

Executive Chef Phil Kastel, a Thousand Oaks native, developed the seasonal lunch and dinner menus using fresh, local ingredients.

Featured menu items at the 126- seat restaurant will include: Jidori brick chicken and white bean ragu, Irish stout short rib, Colorado lamb burger and Tuscan chop salad.

The menu will also have a selection of handcrafted flatbread pizzas cooked on the hearth of the restaurant’s woodfi red oven.

The bar menu will feature more than 40 craft beers–24 on tap and 16 bottles and cans. Artisanal cocktails and wines on tap will also be offered.

PS805 plans to feature ongoing “night school” classes such as Beer 101 and seasonal cocktail tastings.

“Recess,” aka happy hour, will be offered daily with special menu items priced between $4 and $6 as well as dishes such as speck and eggs, parmesan truffle fries and tres adobo tacos.

Public School 805 was created by Los Angeles restaurateur Bob Spivak, co- founder and CEO of The Grill on the Alley and the Daily Grill.

Designed by Los Angelesbased Kelly Architects, the use of materials like tile, wood and steel along with refined polished chrome furniture and light fixtures is meant to trigger the nostalgic memory of a classroom.

Guests will be able to dine at communal-style tables in the bar and on the patio or at traditional seating in the dining room.

The original Public School was launched in 2011 in downtown Los Angeles at Sixth and Flower. A full-service version of Public School, PS310, opened in December 2012 in Culver City.

PS805 will be open daily for lunch and dinner, and serving till midnight.
