The Los Angeles Fashion Council is making major moves. Just as a slew of retailers are setting up shop in Downtown, the LAFC is moving its runway shows out of DTLA and west to The Grove.

Calling the Mid-Wilshire shopping hub “our very own Bryant Park,” LAFC director Kelsi Smith plans to produce the upcoming fall collections at the retail center’s eternally green park. “We love downtown,” Smith tells fashion industry pub California Apparel News. “But we’ve run into difficulties. Not everyone wants to go to downtown Los Angeles.”

Taking place October 8th and 9th, the presentations will showcase eight local designers, including the runner-up of the emerging talent search Open Runway. While the two-day event will remain invite-only, The Grove’s open air set-up means the public can still take a seat outside of the official festivities.
