If there´s anyone we trust with shoe recommendations, it´s Rachel Zoe. So naturally when we got a chance to catch up with the stylist turned designer, our conversation gravitated toward all things shoes.
We met Zoe in Los Angeles, where she was celebrating the opening of her eponymous label´s first pop-up shop, at The Grove. “I kind of wanted to test the waters before I jumped in,” she told us of her decision to open a pop-up. “I wanted to live it temporarily before I committed 100%.” The beautiful space was created with Laurel & Wolf and features clothes, shoes, and accessories from the Rachel Zoe collection´s spring line.

WHO WHAT WEAR: What are your top three favorite shoe trends for spring?
RACHEL ZOE: I love an espadrille going into spring because it´s comfortable and easy. I love stacked wood heels, because they´ve got that ´70s thing and you can stay in them for a long period of time. I also love a naked strappy sandal because it just kind of works with everything.
WWW: What are your thoughts on how big sneakers are right now? Would you ever wear them even though you´re not a sneaker person?
RZ: I don´t wear them, but I do make them, and they are some of our best-selling shoes. It´s funny because I love them on everyone else; I just don´t choose to wear them myself. I love them with slouchy trousers, I love them with suits, I love them with just denim cutoffs and a sweater. I think they are so cool. I love them with leather leggings, too.
WWW: Which style of shoe do you think is really worth an investment?
RZ: I feel like an evening shoe is always something you want to spend a little more on because it will last you years and years and years. Like a great black pump or a gold strappy sandal. You´ll wear it forever because it won´t go out of style. But I think typically the rule is if you are going to spend more, make it something that is going to transcend time and trends.

RZ: I´d say the fringe pieces, the knits, the suedes, and the leathers. I have a lot of favorites in this collection!
WWW: What are some of your best sellers?
RZ: I would say jumpsuits. We have a lace off-the-shoulder top from spring that we´ve sold out of and literally had to make more, which has been great for us. Our suits and evening always do well too.

WWW: What other plans do you have for your brand?
RZ: So many. We just launched our e-commerce. We now have RachelZoe.com so that you can enter the world-and endlessly shop at night. That was kind of a big thing for us, and this pop-up is too. I think next we will probably do eyewear, home, sunglasses, handbags-who knows?
