Yesterday, we snapped 8500 Burton in Beverly Hills, which we covered when it broke ground in early 2011, but its 87 units—unveiled for rental in November—are already 70% leased up, including just recently the furnished 4,000 SF penthouse at $40k/month to an unnamed entertainment industry exec. (Someone presumably who can appreciate not only the Hermes wallpaper, but kitchen appliances so high-end and customized that they actually don’t display their usual Subzero or Miehle names on the outside in the interest of aesthetics.) One bedrooms start at 837 SF and $4,970/month, but they come with amenities rarely seen in rentals, like the car and driver waiting to take you anywhere if Trader Joe’s and Suzanne Goin’s Larder restaurant in the building don’t keep you there and you need more Caruso—like a day at The Grove.
