Rick Caruso’s new 8500 Burton apartment building looks like an intergalactic cruise ship, has a penthouse saltwater pool, and 360º views of our fair city.
But only now has it earned the right to brag: It has a Larder.
The third edition of Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne’s foodie-adored marketplace/café concept, this new Mid-City Larder has a trick up its sandwich-serving sleeve, something none of its brethren have done, a move befitting of Burton’s new space-age space…
The Larder’s finally serving a full dinner menu, daily from 5-11p.
That’s right, dinner diner, come on down. The décor is warm: all slate blue and subway tiles, with a counter displaying Christina Olufson’s famous desserts and a grocer’s case selling cold pressed juices, sides and full take-home dinners.
It’s the kind of place where two-tops often feature a woman taking down a Niman Ranch burger while her man vanquishes the Vegan Cobb.
But back to those dinners. Pork shoulder, bucatini & lamb meatballs, and mac & cheese are just a taste of the glorious and hearty pickings.
On your way out, maybe ignore that 2.2-lb chocolate bar in the marketplace area. There’s always next time.
