Schott NYC plans to open its West Coast flagship store at the Americana at Brand in Glendale.
Schott NYC signed a 1,400 square-foot lease with Caruso Affiliated for the store, which will be its second U.S. retail store. It will be designed by architect Gregory Okshteyn, with Studios Go Inc., designer of the company´s New York City store, which opened in 2013.
Schott´s collection at the store will include sweaters, shirts, accessories as well as jackets in leather, wool, down, denim, canvas and suede. Schott NYC is known for its outerwear, such as the Perfecto motorcycle jacket, designed in 1928 by Irving Schott, who was the first outerwear designer to use a zipper in a jacket. The jacket has been worn by celebrities such as Marlon Brando, James Dean, the Ramones and Bruce Springsteen.
The store at the Americana at Brand also will feature other U.S. brands such as Imogene + Willie denim and Chippewa boots.
“Los Angeles is a city with a rebellious spirit and tremendous appreciation for authenticity,” Chief Operating Officer Jason Schott said in a statement. “It was an obvious choice for us to open our second U.S. store in Los Angeles where we have a large fan base and the opportunity to introduce ourselves to an even larger audience.”
The Schott brand, which was founded in 1913 in Manhattan´s Lower East Side, is run by the third and fourth generations of the Schott family. The company supplied the U.S. military with Naval peacoats, parkas and aviator bomber jackets during World War II.
