Hundreds of people are expected
to visit the Americana at Brand on Sunday for the seventh annual Lunar New Year
Festival, which will feature a parade with traditional lion and dragon
performances, stilt walkers and folk dancers.

From 2 to 5 p.m., the outdoor
shopping center will host its Chinese New Year celebration, complete with
Mongolian Bowl dancers, Chinese and Korean folk dancers and a Chinese dragon
dance to “scare away bad luck” and “welcome good fortune to all,” organizers
said.

Between performances, attendees
can visit craft and face-painting stations, as well as food vendors.
Calligraphy artists will be giving away paintings depicting Chinese characters,
and attendees can pick up traditional red envelopes that may have cash prizes.

“Our Lunar New Year event is
filled with many wonderful activities and entertainment for all families, while
celebrating the diversity and beauty of the Asian culture,” said Julie
Jauregui, senior general manager of the Americana at Brand.

The Americana at Brand will also
host nightly fountain shows at 7 and 8 p.m.
