More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends, and family of Eater have one question: Where should I eat right now? Restaurant obsessives want to know what’s new, what’s hot, which favorite chef just launched a sophomore effort. And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood restaurants across the city, it is not a chronicle of the ‘it’ places of the moment.

This month we add Fat Dragon, which opened with new-fashioned Chinese classics in a Silver Lake strip mall; Kismet, the all-day Middle Eastern-inclined restaurant from Sara Kramer and Sarah Hymanson in Los Feliz; handy neighborhood eatery The Mar Vista; and sequels The Tsujita in Glendale and Beer Belly in Long Beach.
