New hotels opening this year in California, from wine country to the beach

For those who want to stay somewhere new in the new year, here are five California luxury hotels set to open in 2018.

Montecito

The 16-acre private beach near Santa Barbara was a longtime landmark beach resort. Now it will be the Rosewood Miramar Beach Montecito, with 161 rooms and suites, some of which are cottages or bungalows. Gardens, two swimming pools, a Sense spa, fitness center and membership-only beach club round out the luxury offerings at the resort slated to open in summer. Prices start at $825 a night.
