The upscale American restaurant helmed by the James Beard Award-winning The French Laundry alum debuts when the village returns Aug. 15

When Palisades Village opens its doors on Aug. 15 for the first time since the devastating Palisades fire more than a year and a half ago, Rick Caruso’s beloved shopping, dining and entertainment destination will reveal a $100 million restoration and a number of exciting additions.

One-third of the tenants joining the walkable village that originally opened in 2018 and is home to more than 40 boutiques, eateries and experiences will be new.

On the dining front, joining Nancy Silverton’s previously reported new Italian steakhouse Spacca Tutto is a new restaurant from the h.wood Group — John Terzian and Brian Toll’s Los Angeles-based hospitality and marketing company (behind hot spots like Delilah, The Nice Guy, The Bird Streets Club and Harriet’s in L.A., as well as upcoming projects like The Nice Guy Newport Beach, Montana’s in Brentwood and Little Luck in West Hollywood).

At the helm of the upscale new restaurant Alphabet Bar & Grill is chef Tim Hollingsworth —  the Texas-born, Placerville, California-raised chef who earned the James Beard Award for Rising Star Chef while working at The French Laundry and went on to collaborate with The Office star B.J. Novak, Nicholas Kraft, Jack Davis, Byron Ashley, Abe Burns and newer partner Chrissy Teigen on Chain, a gourmet take on nostalgic fast food favorites. The television personality is also behind projects including French-American bistro Hundredfold with Patina Group (in New York and Atlanta), as well as The Oak Room and Bernadette’s with Tenfive Hospitality (behind L.A.’s Mother Wolf, KA’TEEN) in Washington, D.C.

At Palisades Village, Alphabet Bar & Grill will pair Hollingsworth’s elevated food with craft cocktails, notable wines and the chic, one-of-a-kind design for which the h.wood Group is known. However, the bar and grill represents the group’s first neighborhood-focused concept, and it aspires to unite and anchor the community over lunch, dinner and drinks.

“Alphabet Bar & Grill takes its name from the historic Alphabet Streets — one of the Palisades’ most beloved enclaves — and honors that spirit of progress while breathing new life into Palisades Village. By uniting The h.wood Group’s signature approach to hospitality with Tim’s culinary vision, we partnered with Caruso to create a welcoming, sophisticated and intimate space where friends and neighbors can come together once again. We’re proud to introduce Alphabet and look forward to becoming part of the community as it continues to rebuild.”

Inside the light-filled space, Adean Studios’ Alexa Nafisi-Movaghar created a warm, welcoming and modern atmosphere with green marble counters, gold brass touches and linen-dressed tables.

Visit for lunch, dinner, drinks or the series of social and dining events planned to try Hollingsworth’s reinterpretation of an American grill through a California lens. Here, he’ll incorporate local produce from the Palisades Village farmers market in classic dishes like rotisserie chicken, seasonal favorites and indulgent desserts.

“For me, cooking has always been about how we take care of the people we love,” said Hollingsworth in a statement. “With Alphabet, I wanted to bring that personal philosophy to the Palisades, blending thoughtfully sourced ingredients with comforting, classic dishes that become weekly staples.”
