LOS ANGELES – January 20, 2017 –The Americana at Brand and The Grove, Caruso’s award-winning retail, dining and lifestyle destinations in Southern California, announce their plans to celebrate the 2017 Lunar New Year and Year of the Rooster in partnership with The Original Farmers Market. Guests visiting the properties will be able to ring in the New Year with traditional Asian performances, special festivities, shopping incentives, promotions, social media contests and stellar décor installations.
To celebrate Lunar New Year, both The Americana at Brand and The Grove will feature iconic Chinese décor conceptualized by Stephen Stefanou of Venue Arts. An oversized costumed God of Prosperity statue, brilliant red Chinese New Year lanterns and bright horticulture will be on display at The Americana at Brand. Additionally, there will be an enchanting and elegant 14-foot red lantern made with diaphanous red fabric, gold leaf Chinese calligraphy detail and beautiful gold tassels. Hand-formed fan sculptures, brilliant red Chinese New Year lanterns, giant Moso bamboo poles, Qilin Foo Dogs, and a bright horticulture garden can be seen at The Grove. The Americana at Brand will showcase daily fountain shows at 2:00,7:00 and 8:00pm, choreographed to “Give Me a Kiss” by Wan Fang, now through February 5.
On Sunday, January 29 from 2:00 – 5:00pm, guests will be able to experience, for the first-ever, the Lunar New Year celebration hosted by The Grove and The Original Farmers Market. The festivities, hosted near the Foo Dog statue at The Grove and on the Farmers Market Plaza near the main Clock Tower, will include martial arts and lion and dragon dance performances, traditional Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting demonstrations, arts and crafts activities for kids, dumpling-making workshops, hand-formed fan sculptures, brilliant red Chinese New Year lanterns, giant Moso bamboo poles, Qilin Foo Dogs, and a bright horticulture garden. As part of its celebration of the Year of the Rooster, Farmers Market merchants will be offering customers a variety of Lucky Lunar New Year Specials, all featuring the number 8. The Market will feature festive decorations throughout the property, bringing together traditional motifs from Lunar New Year and Farmers Market icons, such as traditional mandarin orange trees in Farmer Market iconic green shopping baskets, and a giant, 5 foot, seven inch tall rooster statue made of galvanized steel, weighing in at more than 400 pounds.
On Saturday, February 4 from 2:00 – 5:00pm, The Americana at Brand will transform into a grand celebration of cheer and good fortune with a Happy New Year parade, including traditional lion performances to scare away bad luck, while welcoming good fortune to all, and a special performance by Culture Shock L.A.. Guests can test their luck through February 5 with traditional Chinese red envelopes handed out by the Chinese God of Wealth, which may contain cash prizes and gift cards.
Between performances, guests at The Americana at Brand can enjoy calligraphy artists, face painters, craft activities for kids and traditional Asian food from K-town Night Market. Additional participating vendors include Cloud Food Creations, Belly Bombz, Nitro-Pop, The Ensaymada Project and Coco Fresh Tea & Juice.
