Caruso announced today that its highly anticipated Palisades Village project will open on Saturday, September 22, 2018. The soon-to-be favorite neighborhood destination, a walkable gathering place, will serve as a centerpiece within the California coastal community with highly curated shopping, dining and lifestyle offerings.

Caruso’s Palisades Village was shaped over the past four years by thousands of conversations and meetings with the residents of the community and the revitalization is designed to respect and honor Pacific Palisades’ history. The collection of specialty and boutique retailers include a coveted selection of brands ranging from first to brick-and-mortar ventures that are definitively unique to the community, to sought-after fashion labels, as well as tenants seeking their first West Coast presence. The 125,000 square-foot development has been uniquely designed to seamlessly blend into the surrounding neighborhood, giving the look of a town center that developed and matured over time

“Palisades Village has been a tremendously exciting project, one that has been very close to me,” stated Rick J. Caruso, founder and CEO of Caruso. “Over the past few years I have had the distinct pleasure of working with local residents, businesses and the City to create a destination that reflects the heart and soul of this coastal community and it is with great pleasure that we will bring our collective vision to life this September.”

Quintessentially California

Known as the “place where the mountains meet the sea,” Pacific Palisades is a picturesque coastal community nestled between Santa Monica and Malibu, in Los Angeles. The history of the town is rich and varied, ranging from a film studio to a refuge for European intellectuals and artists fleeing the war. The one constant over time: a love of tradition and commitment to community. Today, Pacific Palisades is one of Southern California’s most desirable communities for families and privacy-seeking celebrities drawn to its idyllic neighborhoods.

Designing a Downtown

The architectural language of Palisades Village is varied in form, style and articulation. A combination of flat and pitched rooflines create an interesting profile that integrates with and enhances the existing village-like aesthetic. Building facades avoid a single theme and incorporate a mix of styles including mid-century modern, modern, contemporary and coastal. The result is a mix of contrasting storefronts that truly capture the spirit of a walkable town center.

Maintaining the highest standard of luxury in a sustainable and responsible way has been an absolute priority in the creation of Palisades Village. The development is on course to receive LEED Gold certification – it will be the first ground-up business district in the state to achieve this rating. The rigorous process reviews a property’s water efficiency, energy consumption, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, innovation and design.

A Dining Destination

Home to ten new restaurants and cafés, Palisades Village will quickly become a neighborhood favorite for all occasions. Casual, quick-service options include Edoardo Baldi’s edo little bites, which will feature creative and healthful cuisine and grab-and-go options; James Beard award-winning chef Renee Erickson’s coffee and donut concept General Porpoise; Santa Barbara favorite McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams; and Malibu wellness storefront SunLife Organics. All day dining restaurants range from family-friendly to fine dining and include local Palisadian residents and restauranteurs Marissa and Matt Hermer’s European-inspired brasserie, The Draycott; Beverly Hills institution PORTA VIA; popular Japanese eatery Blue Ribbon Sushi, which will open alongside a new offering from the team behind Blue Ribbon Restaurants, Hank’s – named in tribute to Rick Caruso’s father. Celebrity favorite Sweet Laurel Bakery, renowned for its beautiful gluten-free layer cakes and matcha tea lattes, will also introduce its first brick-and-mortar location. Rounding out the impressive list is Vintage Grocers, an upscale, homegrown neighborhood market with chef-driven, restaurant-quality prepared foods and thoughtfully-sourced products specifically catered to the Palisades community.

True to Caruso’s commitment to offering unparalleled guest experiences Palisades Village will include a range of amenities such as concierge services, garage and valet parking, a complimentary bike-share program, an expansive park, and a community room for local residents. Palisades Village will also mark the grand re-opening of the historic Bay Theatre by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas.  Opening later this fall, the theatre will honor the original marquee designed in 1948 by prolific motion picture theatre designer S. Charles Lee.
