Founder and Baker Lara Adekoya Is Teaming Up with Designer Mindy Weiss For An Exclusive Weekend Pop-Up in The Grove’s Glass Box

LOS ANGELES (October 7, 2020) – The Grove, Los Angeles’ premiere retail, dining and entertainment destination announced today that Fleurs et Sel, a locally owned bakery specializing in sweet treats in small batches, will open its doors on October 23rd for a weekend pop-up in The Grove’s famed Glass Box.

Founded in April 2020, Fleurs et Sel was born from founder and owner Lara Adekoya’s love of baking and passion for community. A former employee of Nordstrom at The Grove, Adekoya was one of the top sales associates at the retailer with hundreds of devoted clients.  With ‘safer at home’ orders keeping her away from the store, Lara found solace in her kitchen and began delivering her now famous Brown Butter + Sea Salt chocolate chip cookies to many of her loyal clients, friends and family, as a way to stay connected and express gratitude. Within weeks, Adekoya’s business was born.

“I always dreamed of having my own business; however, it was a beautiful and unexpected surprise that my dreams would actualize during the quarantine,” remarked Adekoya.  “Fleurs et Sel represents more than just delicious cookies – it’s about community and I wanted to spread love, positivity and bring comfort. My very first order was to one of my top clients from Nordstrom; she saw my cookies on Instagram and called me immediately asking to place an order. It was with her encouragement that I found my entrepreneurial spirit — and community of clients, many of whom are now close friends, and continue to show me so much support. I worked at Nordstrom at The Grove for five years; The Grove is a very special, sentimental and joyful place to me. Opening my own pop-up here is truly a full circle moment and the biggest dream come true.”

Translating Fleurs et Sel’s sweet aesthetic from Instagram to reality is event designer and industry icon, Mindy Weiss. A longtime client and friend of Adekoya, Weiss and her team will create bakery bliss with a three dimensional cookie display adorning the entirety of the back wall alongside floral motifs in a palette of creams, pale pinks, and craft brown. In keeping with Adekoya’s love for all things French, Fleurs et Sel’s windows will welcome guests with a warm ‘bienvenue’ in their signature font.

“Lara and I met at Nordstrom in 2016 and we instantly connected” said Weiss.  “We became friends bonding over shoes, and now we’re even closer through our love of cookies.  I’m so happy to support her through this new business, she deserves every success and I am thrilled to be a part of this with her.”

Fleurs et Sel’s delectable offering will include the signature Brown Butter + Sea Salt Chocolate Chip cookies alongside Brown Butter + Vanilla Bean Sugar cookies, Brownie + Oreo + Cookie ‘BAE’ bars and more. In addition to limited batches available daily on-site, online orders will be available for pickup throughout the duration of the pop-up.

Fleurs et Sel will be open from October 23 – October 25 and located at 189 The Grove Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90036. For more information and updates, please visit thegrovela.com or follow @thegrovela and @fleursetsel on Instagram. For online pre-orders, please visit www.fleursetsel.com
